Dr. Karol Sikora is Head of Civil Engineering Department at University of Wollongong in Dubai.
For his significant contribution to Civil Engineering discipline worldwide he was awarded Fellowship of Institute of Civil Engineers.
Karol has gained international experience by studying and working in several countries, including:
Poland, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ireland, China, Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia and United Arab Emirates.
He was part of European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Actions:
- Management Committee Member (representing Ireland) of FP1004 Enhance mechanical properties of timber, engineered wood products and timber structures;
- Management Committee Substitute and Working Group Member (representing Ireland) of FP1402 Basis of structural timber - from research to standards;
- Working Group Member of FP1101 Assessment, Reinforcement and Monitoring of Timber Structures.
Karol's interests cover civil and environmental engineering, materials characterization,
sustainable development, structural performance, renewable energy, project management, risk assessment and related areas.
Karol is Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
